Cube Of Two Digit Number More Than The Base Using Yavadunam Method

To find cube of a two digit number which is more than the base this method can be used. This is very fast method and saves a lot of time in the various competitive exams where each second counts.

Find the cube of 14

Step 1 : Find the surplus in the number as compared to the base. For 14 the nearest base is 10 so the surplus will be 4

We will double the surplus and add it to the number

Result 1 = 4 X 2 + 14 = 8 + 14 = 22

Step 2: Now the surplus in the Result 1 that is 22 when the base is 10 is 12. We will multiply the surplus with the earlier surplus i.e. 4

Result 2= 12 X 4 = 48

Step 3: Find the Cube of the surplus in Step 1 that is Cube of 4 is 64

Result 3 = 64

Step 4: The digits at the unit place of the Result 3 is the digit at unit place in the answer and the remaining are the carry.

Answer 4

Carry is 6

Step 5: The carry is added to Result 2.  The digits at the unit place of the Resultant Number are the digits at tens place in the answer and the remaining are the carry.

Resultant Number = 48 + 6 = 54

Answer 44

Carry is 5

Step 6: The Carry is added to the Result 1. The Resultant Number is Leftmost Block of the Answer

Resultant Number = 22 + 5= 27

Answer: 2744
